Target Information

Feline coronavirus nucleoprotein (N) is a key structural protein that interacts with viral RNA to form the nucleocapsid, stabilizing the viral genome. It is highly immunogenic and induces strong immune responses, making it a valuable target for diagnostic assays, such as ELISAs, to detect FCoV infections. In veterinary medicine, the N protein is also used in vaccine development due to its ability to elicit protective immunity. Additionally, studying the N protein helps elucidate the pathogenesis of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) and supports the development of antiviral strategies.
