Target Information
Influenza A virus subtype H7N7 (A/H7N7) is a member of the Orthomyxovirus genus, known to cause influenza. It exists in both highly pathogenic (HPAI) and low pathogenic (LPAI) forms. H7N7 can infect a variety of species, including humans, birds, pigs, seals, and horses in natural settings, and has also been shown to infect mice in laboratory studies. Neuraminidase of influenza A and B viruses plays a critical role in the virus life cycle and is an important target of the host immune system.
