Target Information
Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), also known as adrenocorticotropin or corticotropin, is a polypeptide tropic hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. ACTH is encoded by the porcine ACTH gene. Research has shown that stress-susceptible pigs, which are unable to maintain homeostasis when exposed to stress, show a lack of response to exogenous ACTH injection when compared to stress-resistant pigs.
