Target Information

Testosterone is an androstanoid characterized by 17beta-hydroxy and 3-oxo groups, with unsaturation at the C-4-C-5 position. It functions as an androgen. Elevated testosterone levels can lead to clinical symptoms affecting female reproduction and may alter sexuality. Disruptions in endocrine pathways, especially those related to hormone synthesis and circulation, can increase testosterone levels and contribute to the development of PCOS. In zebrafish models, research has demonstrated that high testosterone levels disrupt gene expression patterns associated with PCOS.
