Target Information
Very long-chain specific acyl-CoA dehydrogenase, mitochondrial is encoded by the ACADVL gene in bovine. This protein acts as a mitochondrial janitor, specifically breaking down very long-chain fatty acids (FAs) attached to coenzyme A (CoA) molecules. Research on the liver transcriptome of Holstein cows has shown that ACADVL and IRF6 are differentially expressed between dry and peak lactation and are involved in lipid metabolism and proliferation and differentiation of mammary epithelial cells.
