Target Information
Amine oxidase is an enzyme that catalyzes the oxidative cleavage of alkylamines into aldehydes and ammonia. Amine oxidases are divided into two subfamilies based on the cofactor they contain: copper-containing amine oxidases which include both primary-amine oxidase and diamine oxidase, and monoamine oxidases which belong to the flavin subfamily. Amine oxidases play essential roles in various biological processes, including neurotransmitter metabolism and cellular homeostasis.
