Specifications
Target Information
Androstenediol is an endogenous weak androgen and estrogen steroid hormone and intermediate in the biosynthesis of testosterone from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA). Androstenediol also possesses potent estrogenic activity, similar to DHEA and 3β-androstanediol. It has approximately 6% and 17% of the affinity of estradiol at the estrogen receptors ERα and ERβ, respectively. Although its affinity for ERs is lower than estradiol, its higher circulating concentrations suggest it may play a significant role as an estrogen in the body.
