Target Information
Bovine Sarcoplasmic/Endoplasmic Reticulum Calcium ATPase 1 (SERCA1) is encoded by the ATP2A1 gene in cattle. As a key regulator of cellular calcium homeostasis, the sarcoendoplasmic reticulum calcium ATPase (SERCA) pump acts to transport calcium ions from the cytosol back into the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) following muscle contraction. It has been described that mutations in ATP2A1 may cause Bovine congenital pseudomyotonia.
