Target Information
Inhibin functions to downregulate the synthesis of FSH and inhibit its secretion. It is a dimer consisting of a beta subunit that is similar or identical to the beta subunit in activin. Immunization against inhibin could serve as an effective alternative to the conventional superovulation method in goats. Several studies have shown that polymorphisms in the INHA gene are significantly associated with litter size in goats. For example, in Hainan black goats, the AC genotype at the g.28317663A>C locus was associated with higher litter size, while the AA genotype was associated with lower litter size.
