Target Information
D-Beta-Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase, Mitochondrial (BDH1) is an enzyme encoded by the BDH1 gene in cattle. It is a member of the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR) gene family. It forms a homotetrameric lipid-requiring enzyme located in the mitochondrial membrane. BDH1 specifically requires phosphatidylcholine for optimal enzymatic activity. It is responsible for the synthesis and degradation of ketone bodies used in the synthesis of ATP.
