Target Information
Mu-crystallin (CRYM), also known as thiomorpholine-carboxylate dehydrogenase, is a protein with diverse roles. Initially identified as a major lens structural protein in Australian marsupials, mu-crystallin is preferentially expressed in the retina and brain. Bovine Thiomorpholine-Carboxylate Dehydrogenase is encoded by the CRYM gene in cattle. This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, specifically those acting on the CH-NH group of donors with NAD+ or NADP+ as acceptor.
