It is a Y-shaped protein produced by the immune system to fight against infections. IgG plays a crucial role in the adaptive immune response, which is the part of the immune system that remembers and targets specific pathogens. IgG1 is important in mediating antibody responses to viral pathogens. In the bovine respiratory tract, IgG1 is a major secretory immunoglobulin.
