Target Information
PLA2 specifically recognizes the sn2 acyl bond of phospholipids and catalytically hydrolyzes this bond. The result of this cleavage is the release of arachidonic acid and lysophosphatidic acid. Bovine Phospholipase A2 is encoded by the PLA2G1B gene in cattle. Research showed that a single mammary infusion of PLA2G1B to the bovine model of clinical mastitis demonstrated significant relief from disease symptoms.
