Target Information

cGMP-dependent protein kinase 1 (PKG-I), also known as protein kinase G (PKG), is a serine/threonine-specific protein kinase that is activated by cGMP. PKG-I phosphorylates a number of biologically important targets and is implicated in the regulation of various cellular processes. PRKG1 gene plays a key role in lipolysis to release fatty acids and glycerol through the hydrolysis of triacyglycerol in adipocytes. It has significant effects on milk fatty acids in dairy cattle.

Target/Biomarker Bovine PRKG1
Target Synonym cGMP-dependent protein kinase 1; cGK 1; cGK1
Gene ID 282004
UniProt ID P00516
