Target Information

Synaptotagmin-1 is encoded by the SYT1 gene in bovine. This protein is a key player in neurotransmitter release at synapses (communication points between neurons). It acts as a calcium sensor, triggering the fusion of neurotransmitter-containing vesicles with the presynaptic membrane, allowing for the release of neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft. Functional validation showed that overexpression of SYT1 in bovine mammary epithelial cells significantly downregulated the expression of LPL, SCAP and SREBP1 and inhibited triglyceride synthesis and lipid droplet formation.

Target/Biomarker Bovine SYT1
Target Synonym Synaptotagmin-1; Synaptotagmin I; SytI
Gene ID 281511
UniProt ID P48018
