Target Information
Uncoupling protein 2 (UCP2) is a mitochondrial protein which belongs to the family of mitochondrial anion carrier proteins. Bovine Mitochondrial uncoupling protein 2 is encoded by the UCP2 gene in cattle. UCP2 is involved in uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis. It dissipates the mitochondrial membrane potential as heat, a process known as the mitochondrial proton leak. It plays a crucial role in energy regulation and body metabolism.
