Bovine Zona pellucida glycoprotein 3 is encoded by the ZP3 gene in cattle. ZP3 is a glycoprotein found in the zona pellucida, an extracellular matrix surrounding oocytes. It plays several critical roles during fertilization. It is essential for sperm binding to the zona pellucida. It is one of the zona pellucidas (ZPs) which surround the mammalian oocyte and mediate species-selective sperm-oocyte interactions.
