Target Information

Angiotensin 1-7, a heptapeptide, is present in both the heart and kidneys. Its concentrations in the kidney are six times greater than in the plasma, indicating its intrarenal production and significance in maintaining renal homeostasis. In a dog model, it was discovered that angiotensin-(1-7) is formed in the bloodstream through the cleavage of angiotensin I via a pathway that does not involve the converting enzyme.
