Target Information

Calreticulin, a Ca²⁺-binding chaperone, plays a crucial role in intracellular Ca²⁺ homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum (ER) Ca²⁺ storage capacity. Calreticulin binds calcium ions, which serve as second messengers in cellular signal transduction. Its multifaceted functions extend to involvement in the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune diseases, and cancers. Notably, research has demonstrated that canine calreticulin and cathepsin A mRNA expression levels increase during the tumorigenesis phase.
