Target Information
IgG is the most abundant immunoglobulin in serum, playing a critical role in defense against pathogens. Guinea pigs have IgG subclasses, most notably IgG1 and IgG2, which have somewhat distinct functions. IgG1 is a subclass of IgG. When applied in vitro, purified guinea pig IgG1 can lead to non-specific smooth muscle hyperreactivity and hypersensitivity. Thus, IgG1 is likely a key factor in the development of sensitization-induced hyperresponsiveness and may significantly contribute to the hyperreactivity observed in allergic diseases and anaphylaxis.
