Target Information

Cystatin C (CysC) is a low molecular weight protein (13 kDa) consistently produced by all nucleated cells. It is freely filtered by the glomeruli and reabsorbed by the proximal tubule cells. Studies have demonstrated that the concentration of serum cystatin C is a useful marker for assessing glomerular filtration rate in dogs.
