Target Information
Apurinic/apyrimidinic endonuclease 1 is encoded by the chicken APEX1 gene. APEX1 is a DNA repair enzyme with AP endonuclease activity. It acts on DNA molecules containing AP sites, ensuring their repair. It was first described as a key enzyme in the base excision repair pathway. Research has shown that APEX1 is a novel transcriptional repressor of CYP11B2 and that differential APEX1 binding at -1651 of CYP11B2 results in altered gene expression.
