Target Information

Type III collagen, also known as collagen type III, alpha 1, is a protein found in various tissues throughout the body. It is a homotrimer, meaning it consists of three identical peptide chains (monomers) called alpha 1 chains. These monomers assemble into a triple helix structure, similar to a rope with three strands. Type III collagen is typically observed in regenerating muscle. It and its precursor (procollagen type III) may play a role in cellular processes.
