Target Information

Bile acids are synthesized in the liver, secreted in the intestine, and metabolized by the gut microbiota. They have long been studied primarily in relation to the process of lipid digestion and absorption. Bile acids play a crucial role in digestion, absorption, and overall liver function. In chickens, research has shown that secondary bile acids, but not total bile acid levels, play an essential role in the control of enteritis.
