Target Information

Toll-like receptor 4 is encoded by the TLR4 gene in chickens. The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family constitutes a crucial class of proteins in the innate immune system. These receptors are typically expressed on sentinel cells like macrophages and dendritic cells. TLRs recognize structurally conserved molecules derived from microbes, serving as the first line of defense against invading pathogens. It recognizes a major structural component of the cell wall of Gram-negative bacteria known as LPS and stimulates the immune system.
