Target Information

The MUC2 gene in ducks encodes for Mucin 2, a primary gel-forming mucin that is crucial for forming the intestinal mucus barrier and acts as a target for secretory IgA. Among the secretory mucins (MUC2, MUC5AC, MUC5B, MUC6, MUC8, and MUC19), all except MUC7 contain one or more von Willebrand factor (vWF)-like D domains and cysteine-rich peptides. These components are essential for the oligomerization of mucin monomers and their packaging into secretory vesicles.

Target/Biomarker Duck MUC2
Target Synonym mucin-2; intestinal mucin-like protein; mucin 2, oligomeric mucus/gel-forming
