Target Information
Leptin, encoded by the LEP gene in rabbits, is a protein hormone primarily produced by adipocytes, or fat cells. Its main function is likely to regulate long-term energy balance. Studies using rabbit models have shown that leptin can serve as an anti-apoptotic and antioxidant promoter, supporting in vitro embryonic development, especially under oxidative stress caused by cryopreservation programs. Studies have shown that leptin levels are positively correlated with body fat content in rabbits, especially during reproduction, and that changes in leptin concentration are closely related to weight management.
