Target Information
Feline Interleukin-12 (IL-12) is a heterodimeric glycoprotein composed of two disulfide-linked subunits weighing approximately 40 kD (p40) and 35 kD (p35). This pleiotropic cytokine influences the biological activities of T-cells and natural killer (NK) cells. A key function of IL-12 is to induce a Th1 immune response, aiding the differentiation of naive T cells into Th1 cells. The function of IL-12 in cats is mainly reflected in its regulatory role on immune response, especially in infectious diseases (e.g., FIV infection.) Changes in the expression level of IL-12 may reflect the dynamic adjustment of the immune system in cats during infections, and also suggest a potential role in immune tolerance and inflammatory response.
