Target Information

Hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), an intracellular neutral lipase, adeptly hydrolyzes various esters. It exists in both the long and the short forms. The long form predominates in steroidogenic tissues like the testis, where it converts cholesteryl esters into free cholesterol for steroid hormone synthesis. Notably, HSL serves as a rate-determining enzyme in triglyceride hydrolysis, playing a pivotal role in lipid metabolism.
