Target Information
CD4 (cluster of differentiation 4) is a glycoprotein that acts as a co-receptor for the T-cell receptor (TCR). It is present on the surface of immune cells, including helper T cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. CD4+ T cells play a central role in orchestrating immune responses by releasing cytokines that activate other immune cells. CD4+ T cells differentiate into various subsets, such as Th1, Th2, and Th17 cells, each with distinct cytokine profiles and effector functions. They are essential for both cellular and humoral immunity. In Guinea pigs, the CD4 gene encodes this glycoprotein.
