Bovine herpesvirus type 5 (BHV-5), also known as bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) type 2, is a member of the family Herpesviridae that affects cattle, causing a range of clinical manifestations from mild to severe disease. Glycoprotein C (gC) is one of the viral envelope glycoproteins that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of BHV-5. gC is a surface glycoprotein involved in the virus's attachment to host cells and is a major determinant of viral tropism and pathogenicity.
