Target Information
Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) is a nuclear receptor known for its key role in the regulation of cellular differentiation, metabolism, and inflammation. As a transcription factor, PPAR-γ controls the expression of genes involved in fatty acid storage, glucose metabolism, and insulin sensitivity, making it a critical player in energy homeostasis. PPAR-γ is highly expressed in adipose tissue, where it promotes the differentiation of preadipocytes into adipocytes and regulates lipid metabolism. Its activation can lead to increased fatty acid uptake and storage, as well as the production of anti-inflammatory molecules, contributing to its insulin-sensitizing and anti-inflammatory properties.
