Bovine mucin 1 (MUC1) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein with a large, highly glycosylated extracellular domain. It is expressed in various epithelial cells and plays a role in creating a protective barrier against infections. MUC1 has also been implicated in immune regulation and tumor suppression, particularly in the context of bovine leukemia virus (BLV) infections.
