Target Information
Canine SOX17 is a transcription factor belonging to the SOXF subfamily of the SOX (SRY-related HMG box) family, which is crucial for embryonic development, particularly in vascular and endodermal formation. It functions as a downstream target gene of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in the endoderm and is essential for organizer and endoderm formation. In the context of angiogenesis, SOX17 plays a significant role in promoting endothelial migration and vascular development, acting both upstream of Notch signaling and downstream of canonical Wnt signaling. Moreover, SOX17 is implicated in the regulation of arterial-venous identity and is cooperatively involved in vascular development with other SOXF family members, such as SOX7 and SOX18.
