Target Information
Porcine protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 9 (PTPN9) is an important enzyme involved in the regulation of various cellular processes, including cell signaling, proliferation, and differentiation. As a member of the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, PTPN9 plays a critical role in counterbalancing the actions of protein tyrosine kinases by removing phosphate groups from tyrosine residues on proteins. In pigs, PTPN9 may be involved in the modulation of angiogenic processes, as suggested by research indicating its negative regulation of the paracrine vasoprotective activity of bone-marrow derived pro-angiogenic cells. This finding points to a potential impact of PTPN9 on vascular degeneration in oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR), a condition that can lead to vision loss.
