Target Information

Oxytocin is a natural hormone that controls key aspects of the female and male reproductive systems, including labour, birth and lactation. It is a peptide hormone and neuropeptide normally produced in the hypothalamus and released by the posterior pituitary gland. In the ovine model, a direct effect of oxytocin on the corpus luteum is possible, but only after the first month of pregnancy and not in the corpus luteum of the estrous cycle.
