Target Information
Choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) is a transferase enzyme responsible for the synthesis of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh). ChAT catalyzes the transfer of an acetyl group from the coenzyme acetyl-CoA to choline, yielding acetylcholine (ACh). ACh is a crucial neurotransmitter involved in neuromuscular transmission, autonomic nervous system function, and cognitive processes. Choline O-acetyltransferase is encoded by the CHAT gene in pigs. It appears to exist in multiple forms.
