Target Information

Porcine Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is a naturally occurring prostaglandin that has oxytocic properties and is used as a medication for inducing labor, treating postpartum hemorrhage, terminating pregnancy, and in newborn babies to maintain patency of the ductus arteriosus. PGE2 is synthesized from arachidonic acid by the action of cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes. It is produced in various tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, and reproductive organs.
