Target Information

Histone H4 is a member of the histones, which are basic nuclear proteins responsible for the nucleosome structure of the chromosome fibre in eukaryotes. In a porcine model, acetylation of H4 and methylation of H3K9 are altered by vitrification, which may lead to aberrant epigenetic presentation of female chromatin at the fertilisation event and may be at least partly responsible for the reduced developmental competence of vitrified pig oocytes.
