Target Information
ANP/Atrial Natriuretic Peptide-converting Enzyme is encoded by the NPPA gene in pigs. It serves as an anti-permeability factor. It achieves this by inhibiting the signaling functions of vascular permeability factor, thereby maintaining the integrity of endothelial cell tight junctions. Interestingly, ANP is synthesized and secreted by cardiac muscle cells within the atrial walls of the heart. It is a member of the natriuretic peptide family.
