Target Information
Rhodopsin is encoded by the RHO gene in pigs. Rhodopsin is the dim light photosensitive pigment of animals. It is primarily found in the rod cells of the retina. When rhodopsin is exposed to light, it immediately photobleaches. Although porcine rhodopsin has a high degree of homology with bovine and rat rhodopsins and most of their post-translational modifications are identical, the glycosylation and phosphorylation patterns are different.
