Target Information

In rabbits, the PPARG gene encodes the Peroxisome Proliferator Activated Receptor Gamma, a nuclear receptor that interacts with peroxisome proliferators like hypolipidemic drugs and fatty acids. Upon ligand activation, this receptor binds to specific PPAR response elements (PPRE) in DNA, modulating the transcription of target genes, including acyl-CoA oxidase. As a result, it regulates the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway of fatty acids and plays a crucial role in adipocyte differentiation and glucose homeostasis. In the follicular fluid of pseudopregnant rabbits, PPARG was found to be present in granulosa cells and follicular membrane cells.
