Target Information
Platelet-activating factor, also referred to as PAF, PAF-acether, or AGEPC (acetyl-glyceryl-ether-phosphorylcholine), is a powerful phospholipid activator and mediator involved in numerous leukocyte functions, platelet aggregation and degranulation, inflammation, and anaphylaxis. In a rabbit model, platelet-activating factor plays a role in the accumulation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) in the reperfused ischemic myocardium and contributes to the progression of myocardial injury. The concentration of PAF was significantly elevated during pregnancy in rabbits, and its synthesis was closely related to embryo implantation.PAF may promote successful embryo implantation by regulating the inflammatory response and angiogenesis of the endometrium.
