Target Information
In rabbits, E-selectin is encoded by the SELE gene. This cell-surface glycoprotein plays a role in immunoadhesion by mediating the adhesion of blood neutrophils to cytokine-activated endothelium through its interaction with SELPLG/PSGL1. It may also be involved in capillary morphogenesis. Although there is no direct evidence for a specific function of E-selectin in rabbits, it can be hypothesized that its function is similar to that of mice and other mammals. Functions of E-selectin in rabbits may include promotion of leukocyte adhesion and rolling on the vascular endothelium, thereby participating in the inflammatory response and immune response.
