Target Information
Canine matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is a proteolytic enzyme that plays a significant role in tissue remodeling and is associated with various pathological conditions in dogs, including cancer progression and inflammation. It is involved in the degradation of extracellular matrix components, which is crucial for physiological processes such as wound healing and tissue repair, as well as pathological processes like tumor invasion and metastasis. In canine mammary tumors, MMP-9 expression has been linked to tumor malignancy, proliferation rate, and histologic grade, suggesting its importance as a prognostic factor.
