Target Information
Plasminogen, a glycoprotein synthesized in the liver, is the inactive precursor of plasmin. It plays a crucial role in the fibrinolytic system, responsible for dissolving blood clots, by waiting to be activated into its active form, plasmin. Plasminogen is a single-chain polypeptide with a unique cleavage site that separates the inactive zymogen form from the active protease domain upon activation. It is an important enzyme present in the blood, whose function is to dissolve fibrinogen blood clots.
