Target Information
Swine parvovirus capsid protein (VP) is the primary structural component of the virus particle, forming the protective shell that encloses the viral genome. This protein is crucial for the virus's ability to infect host cells, as it mediates attachment to cell receptors, facilitates entry into the cell, and participates in nuclear transport of the viral genome. The capsid protein also plays a role in the assembly of new virus particles and can induce an immune response in the host, which is important for vaccine development. In swine, the capsid protein is a key target for the host's immune system and is involved in the pathogenesis of diseases caused by swine parvovirus.
