Target Information
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone is encoded by the GnRH gene in pigs. It constitutes the initial step in the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. GnRH regulates the secretion of FSH and LH, which are essential for reproductive function. The release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland is controlled by hypothalamic GnRH. It is a key regulator of follicular growth, maturation and ultimately ovulation.
