Target Information
Vasopressin V2 receptor is encoded by the AVPR2 gene in bovine. This receptor is located primarily in the kidney and plays a vital role in regulating water balance in the body. It binds to vasopressin, a hormone released from the pituitary gland, and triggers signaling pathways that increase water reabsorption in the kidneys, preventing excessive water loss and contribute to blood pressure regulation by affecting blood vessel constriction. Studies have shown that renal tubular cell insensitivity to arginine vasopressin is associated with AVPR2 mutations.
