Target Information

Cathelicidins are stored in the secretory granules of neutrophils and macrophages and can be released upon activation by leukocytes. Cathelicidin peptides are dual-natured molecules called amphiphiles: one end of the molecule is attracted to water and repelled by fats and proteins, and the other end is attracted to fats and proteins and repelled by water. Bovine Cathelicidin-1 is encoded by the CATHL1 gene in cattle. It is a member of Cathelicidins which comprise of a heterogeneous class of host defense peptides also termed as antimicrobial peptides.
